FELT FLOWERS

What’s the best way to shorten the length of my flowers?

The ends of your thread-wrapped wire stems have been sealed to prevent unravelling. To shorten a flower stem, simply bend the end of the stem up towards the top of the flower and twist the parallel pieces together. Flower length can be adjusted multiple times to suit different vases. We do not recommend cutting your stems if you plan to use different vases and arrangements over time. If you’d like to permanently alter stem length, clip your stems with wire cutters and seal the ends with glue or floral tape.

How can I make my felt flowers look awesome at home?

First, take a moment to unpack your flowers and inspect them. If you notice any damage, please contact me as soon as possible. Flowers may flatten slightly during shipping, this is normal. You can revive your flowers by very gently moving and squeezing petals and leaves into shape. Some flowers have been stiffened to help seal the felt edges and retain petal shapes, so take care with your adjustments. Next, shorten your stems (see above) to suit the height of your vase. Finally, it’s time to play! The great thing about felt flowers is that they can be bent or moved to suit your arrangement over and over again. Most leaves are individually wired, giving you extra control around placement. Some large flowers (e.g., peonies) have been constructed so that you can make them appear more closed (by cupping the flower and pushing petals inward) or more open (by spreading petals downward).

How do I care for my felt flowers?

It’s always best to keep art in a temperature-controlled, dry environment and away from direct sunlight, if possible. Every so often, remove your flowers from their vase, turn them upside down and gently tap to remove light dust. If you have played with your flowers a lot, your felt may release fibres. You can carefully snip those off. Felt flowers will be damaged by water, so washing is not recommended.

Can you tell me about your materials?

We use high-quality wool-blend or 100% wool felt and thread-wrapped wire stems. This creates more natural-looking flowers and greens.

TEXTILE ART

How do I care for my artwork?

It is best to keep your artwork in a temperature-controlled, dry environment and away from direct sunlight, if possible. The acrylic glazing used in your frame must be treated differently than glass to avoid scratching and fogging. Your artwork was shipped to you with a microfibre cloth, which should be used to gently wipe away fingerprints and smudges as needed. Stubborn dirt can be removed gently with water and mild soap. Never scrub or use cleaning products on acrylic glazing, as it will ruin the finish.

Can you tell me about your materials?

We love animals around here. The wool we use is from non-mulesed flocks and tinted with eco-friendly dyes. All of our shipping materials are recyclable and biodegradable. Our frames are very simple and fitted with acrylic glazing. Acrylic glazing is clearer than glass and resists breakage, but does require some special care (see above).
